Real People, Real Results

At 35 years of age, never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined that, I would be battling a shocking heart disease.

Every 15 to 18 months, my arteries would become blocked, despite undergoing medical interventions with some of the best doctors and following their prescribed treatments. After each procedure, I was reassured that my heart was “20 years younger,” only to find myself back in the same situation 15 months later.

Eventually, I realized that the foods I believed to be healthy—and those recommended by my consulting doctors and surgeons—were actually contributing to my recurring arterial blockages.

With thorough research and persistence, I finally identified the foods that were harmful to my heart and made the necessary changes. It was a life-changing experience.

I strongly endorse “Program Heart” by Dr. Mansoor, which focuses on preventing and reversing heart disease. This program is based on the same science-backed and tested principles that worked for me— plan that truly supports heart health. You will be surprised to know along with your heart health, this plan benefits on so many other health issues, gut health, diabetics, blood pressure, cholesterol, etc.

If you’re struggling or worried about your heart health, I wholeheartedly recommend giving this program a try. It transformed my life, and I believe it has the power to transform yours too.

Taher

I read Dr Mansoor’s book, “My Heart, My Story”, and was truly fascinated by his personal journey in reversing heart disease. Since I practice evidence-based medicine, I asked him to share with me all his medical history including the angiogram, and all other tests. I studied them carefully and was astonished and fascinated by what he has achieved. I decided to put his “Program Heart” to test, and conducted my own study on a group of patients in my practice. I have to say that the results I saw were astonishing. In the majority of patients there was remarkable improvement within 6

weeks. In all the patients in my trial I have been able to stop all their prescription medication within 3 months. For anyone who has been diagnosed with cardiovascular disease, or diabetes I am now convinced that reversal is definitely possible, and I strongly recommend his program to anyone who is at risk of heart disease, diabetes, and obesity.

I am 44 years old and have had health issues for the last 4 years. Because of my lifestyle I developed hypertension, borderline diabetes, and very high cholesterol. I was in chronic fatigue, often breathless and had frequent chest discomfort. I consulted a few specialists and was prescribed a number of medications that eventually caused more distress and side effects. One year ago, I came across the heart disease prevention and reversal program by Dr J. Mansoor. In the beginning I was skeptical as it promised a

lot without medication. However, I decided to give it a serious try and was almost shocked that the results it produced within six weeks of being on the program.

Within 2 months I lost 8 kg in weight, and completely reversed my blood biochemistry. My blood pressure and my blood sugar levels dropped to normal. My energy level shot up, and I was totally rejuvenated and felt strong. I very strongly recommend this program for anyone who carries a risk of heart disease, diabetes, and other chronic medical ailments. It has a totally noninvasive approach, and there are no medicines involved. I t truly appreciate and thank Dr Mansoor for guiding me to the right path.

Merzie

I am Naghma Arif, 63 years old. I have suffered from chronic gut health issues for the last 20 years. In the last 5 years I developed high blood pressure, very high cholesterol and triglycerides, and diabetes. I had chronic fatigue, dizziness, and recurrent chest pain

and palpitations. I was on eight different medications, including anti-depressants. In short, I was in very poor health and extremely distressed and depressed.

I accidentally came across “Program Heart” by Dr Mansoor. I decided to give the program a try as there was nothing to lose. He slowly tapered off my medications, and in 3 months’ time I saw a remarkable improvement in my weight and all my blood indices, including the blood sugar returned to normal limits. I have never been in such good health in the last 20 years. At this time I am on no prescription medications at all.

If you are struggling with heart health, diabetes, gut issues, and even depression I strongly recommend giving this program a try. It transformed my life, and I definitely believe it has the power to transform yours too. Thank you, Dr Mansoor, for helping me turn my life around.

Naghma Arif

I have myself suffered from heart problems and hypertension for the last few years. I have had the opportunity to work as a colleague of Dr Mansoor and I have first-hand knowledge about his coronary arteries blockages, and how he successfully reversed his heart disease. I read his book thoroughly and was convinced that what he has been advocating is scientific and evidence based. I decided to try his program on a number of my patients, and I have to say the I have seen some amazing results, and more importantly without medication.

I was so convinced that I myself went on to his program, and have been steadily seeing improvements in my heart health. I strongly recommend his program, his own personal journey, and his experience to anyone suffering from heart disease, diabetes, gut health issues, and other chronic conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. Can this therapy help even with advanced heart disease?

Irrespective of the degree of blockage, be it 50%, 90%, or more, this therapy is extremely effective for everyone suffering from coronary artery disease. I strongly advocate this lifestyle even for people who may not have signs of heart disease, but want to be “Heart attack-proof” forever. There are many documented studies where angiograms have shown, a complete reversal of  lockages in the coronary arteries after following this protocol.

Remember, there is no medication in the world for the reversal of narrowing and clearing of blockages. A pill is not the solution.

Conventional cardiology treatment is symptomatic, and therefore lifelong medications need to be taken. This is because it does not target
the root cause of the problem. The solution offered here is the only long-term and permanent solution for coronary artery disease. This therapy is directed at the main cause of the problem, that is the buildup of toxins in the body and inflammation.

Cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL, and sugar are some of the toxins that cause heart disease, and that is the reason why these substances have to be removed from the diet.

Does it make any sense to keep eating sugar and fat and take pills to reduce their presence in the blood stream? It simply won’t work. The only solution, and a scientific one, is not to consume these substances to begin with.

Why light up a fire and then throw water on it to extinguish it? Do not start the fire in the first place. The nutrition plan recommended not only keeps you away from the toxins but, more importantly, restores the production of nitric oxide. This is the molecule that prevents and reverses heart disease, not the pill. Yes, this is a permanent solution without medication or invasive intervention.

Reversal starts from the moment you make the decision to follow “Program Heart”. The first morsel of food that goes into the mouth and the first sip of what you drink start the reversal process. Just like with anything in life, it takes time to see obvious results. The day you start, you stop toxins from entering the blood stream, reduce inflammation, and start the healing process. I can only tell you from my own experience that when I started the reversal process as soon as I was diagnosed, it took me about six weeks to see a dramatic change in my blood profile, in my body weight, and in the fat content of my body. Since then, I have closely monitored the patients I have been mentoring, and the results have been more or less the same. So, in conclusion, reversal starts right away as soon as you get on to the program. The important thing is to take the first step.

As soon as you are diagnosed with heart disease, medication will be prescribed to bring your lipid profile and your blood pressure down. You will also be taking a blood thinner, and a medication for diabetes may also be given. To begin with, this is a good step, as you want all these indices to be within a normal and safe range. However, once you are on the “Plant Protein Prescription,” all of these indices will be dropping anyway. It takes about four to six weeks for the changes to show, and there are good chances that you will not need medications anymore.

Remember, the pill is a temporary fix to begin with. For example, in my case, my total cholesterol when I was first diagnosed in December 2021 was 249 and my LDL was 145. Within a month, my total cholesterol dropped to 90 and my LDL to 31. I was on the reversal program and taking medication as well. Soon after, I decided to stop medication as I figured out that my lifestyle change therapy had taken over and medication was no longer necessary. It has now been almost two years since I have been on any medication at all. So, a simple change in lifestyle will ensure that you do not need any drugs, and in almost all cases, it is possible to stop medication within two months after being on the program.

Having said that, do not stop any medication without consulting your doctor. Chances are that once your biochemistry improves rapidly, your healthcare provider will either reduce or stop the medication on his own.

Regular exercise is a key to good health and longevity. It plays an important role in preventing and reversing heart disease. Even simple exercise, such as walking for an hour a day, can significantly improve health, but exercise alone is not enough. A lifestyle change is mandatory. From my experience, I apply the 80/20 rule. Eighty percent of the treatment lies in following the “Plant Protein Prescription”, and twenty percent is exercise. Exercise will never benefit you if you keep eating the wrong foods. You must avoid toxic and proinflammatory foods if you want to be in good health and reverse heart disease.

Soon after you commit yourself to the change and follow “Program Heart”, you will notice that the chest pain and discomfort will go away. This will happen as early as a week or two into the program. The energy level will go up, and you will feel fresh, more alert, and more focused. Exercise endurance will increase, and you will be able to walk longer distances without getting tired. The recovery period following exercise will also shorten. All aches and pains in the body will disappear.

You will be more relaxed and less anxious or irritable because the blood pressure will settle down. The sinuses and the chest will clear up, and breathing will be easier. You will not be breathless during exertion or exercise and you will be able to sleep much better and wake up fresh and full of energy.

Digestion and bowel movements will be regulated, and you will have fewer cravings for food. You will feel lighter, and the weight will start to drop right away. These are some of the physical changes you will see, apart from drastic changes in the blood biochemistry, which your doctor will show you on your follow-up visit to the hospital.

Physical changes and improvements in blood biomarkers are strong indications that the heart disease is reversing and you are well on your way to being “Heart attack proof”.

I have not known of anyone complaining of weakness or a lack of energy while following this lifestyle. On the contrary, there is a surge of energy and vitality. Once you cut out processed foods, you immediately eliminate all kinds of chemicals, including food additives, coloring agents, stabilizers, food enhancers, and a long list of other chemicals that damage the body. Most processed foods contain MSG (monosodium glutamate), which is really harmful to the brain and body. High fructose corn syrup, refined sugar, trans-fats, gluten, and many other artificial foods produce inflammation and toxicity in the body. Once you get rid of all these toxins from your diet and start living clean and healthy, you will be full of energy, feel strong, and feel rejuvenated. Also, the healthy food that is incorporated in the diet will provide a lot of essential vitamins, minerals, prebiotics, and antioxidants that will infuse the body with a lot of energy and strength.

Since I know that nitric oxide is such an important molecule, I start the day with the “Nitric Oxide Booster”. This is a freshly extracted juice, not a smoothie made out of cucumber, bitter gourd, bottle gourd, celery, kale, spinach, beet, ginger, and garlic. This is a kickstart to the body getting a boost of nitric oxide early in the morning. I have found this to be extremely beneficial in the reversal process. Beetroot and kale deserve special mention as excellent boosters of nitric oxide in the body.

Calcium is an essential mineral required for various functions in the body. The recommended daily intake for most adults is around 1,000 mg per day.

Milk has long been touted as a primary source of calcium in the human diet. It is true that milk and dairy products contain high amounts of calcium, but milk is not the only source of calcium, and it is not absolutely necessary for meeting our calcium requirements. Many non-dairy foods can provide adequate amounts of calcium.

Tofu, sesame seeds, chia seeds, almonds, and green leafy vegetables are excellent sources of calcium. Legumes such as chickpeas, black beans, and lentils are not only high in protein and fiber but also contain enough calcium.

Vegan milk can be a valuable source of calcium. Soy milk, almond milk, and oat milk can provide comparable levels of calcium to cow’s milk. By combining a variety of calcium-rich foods and vegan milk alternatives, individuals can easily meet their calcium needs while adhering to a vegan lifestyle.

Protein is one food that has drawn a lot of attention all over the world in recent times. The health and fitness industries have been at the forefront of promoting high protein consumption. Diets in the recent past, such as Atkins, Paleo, and low-carb diets, have also promoted this fad in a big way. If high protein intake was the only way to put on muscle, then there would be hulks walking all over the place, considering the number of people who are on a high protein diet. A lot of people claim that 0.8 g of protein per kg of body weight per day is enough for a healthy person.

Since I have been meticulously following the plan that I recommend since my own ordeal with heart disease, I personally feel that 0.5 g/kg per day is sufficient. I have been on it myself for the last one and a half years, and the protein mass in my body has been constant. I have no weakness in my muscles and, on the contrary, feel stronger than ever before. The other fact that I have already discussed earlier in the book is that animal protein is not necessary. In fact, it is far healthier to consume plant protein, which is in no way inferior to animal protein.

There is abundant protein in plant-based foods, to easily meet the daily requirements of any individual as is evident from the table. As you will notice, there is enough protein in plant-based foods.

My own protein requirement according to my body weight is 33 grams per day, and I easily get that from vegan sources. Consuming more protein than required is damaging to the liver and kidneys.

There is absolutely no need to burden the body with extra protein. It is really not required, and on the contrary it can be harmful. Vegan protein is far superior to animal protein because of the enormous benefits that it has.

Most certainly yes. As early as the first week, you will start to see the difference. Not only will the weight start to decrease, but the fat percentage in the body will also go down, and you will start to lose inches as well, especially around the abdomen and the hips. The change in body shape becomes very noticeable, because weight for weight fat occupies five times more space as compared to muscle. So, even losing a few pounds of body fat can have a big impact on the shape and physical appearance.

The body needs very little fat to function. My recommendation is to limit it to about 17 grams a day. This amount can easily be obtained from flaxseed and chia seeds, which should be consumed every day. Both of them have healthy oils that are beneficial for anyone suffering from heart disease. My strong advice for anyone with cardiovascular disease is not to add any oil to their food.

If you really want to reverse heart disease, you will need to watch your calories. My recommendation is to restrict yourself to 1,600 calories a day. Out of these calories, 80% should come from carbohydrate, 10% from protein, and 10% from fat. So, on a 1,600-calorie diet, you will need to take about 320 grams of carbohydrate, 49 grams of protein, and 19 grams of fat per day. The restriction of calories is directly related to longevity.

Telomeres are distinctive structures found at the ends of our chromosomes. Telomeres are often compared to the plastic caps at the end of a shoelace. The telomere keeps the strands of DNA from fraying and coming apart. Over time, due to various lifestyle factors, the telomere degrades and shortens, which contributes to aging.

The shortening of telomeres increases the chances of developing heart disease. Populations with short telomeres are reported to have a shorter life expectancy than those with long telomeres. Dietary restrictions and daily exercise are important to stop the acceleration of telomere shortening.

Caloric restriction is the only lifestyle intervention that has repeatedly been shown to increase life span, retard the aging process, and help protect against obesity, hypertension, and heart disease. Eat fewer calories and live healthier and longer. A vegan diet, regular exercise, stress management, adequate sleep, a healthy weight, and avoiding toxic foods will result in healthy telomers and a long and fulfilling life.

“Program Heart” is not a time-bound program. It is a lifestyle that should be adopted for an entire lifetime. It is just a different way of eating and looking at food. When you follow the “Plant Protein Prescription”, there will be immediate changes in the biomarkers of health within a few weeks, but this has to be sustained.

If you go back to the old habits, the toxins and inflammation will start to build up again. The nitric oxide production will decrease, the cholesterol and LDL will start to increase, the blood pressure will go up, and you will again be vulnerable to coronary artery disease.

From my own experience of following this lifestyle and the patients with heart disease who have been under my care, I have rarely found someone giving up on the program. The health benefits are so huge, and the changes that you will see in yourself are so remarkable, that this will keep you motivated to follow this lifestyle forever.

There are some supplements that can help with cardiovascular disease, but they have to be used as a supportive therapy in the reversal process. I advise you to consult your medical provider before starting one. Some helpful supplements to consider are:

CoQ10 Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is a naturally occurring antioxidant found in every cell of the human body, particularly in the heart, liver, and kidneys. It plays a crucial role in energy production and serves as a potent protector against oxidative damage.

CoQ10 is a vital component of the process that generates adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the body’s primary energy source. The heart, being a highly energy-demanding organ, requires an adequate supply of CoQ10 to function optimally. Supplementation with CoQ10 has been shown to improve energy production in the heart muscle cells, which can benefit individuals with heart failure or other cardiovascular diseases.

It acts as a powerful antioxidant, neutralizing harmful free radicals and protecting cell membranes, proteins, and DNA from oxidative damage. By reducing oxidative stress, CoQ10 helps to maintain the structural integrity of the heart and prevents the development and progression of cardiovascular diseases.

Hypertension is a major risk factor for heart disease. Studies have suggested that CoQ10 supplementation may help in lowering blood pressure by promoting vasodilation and improving endothelial function. It also helps to maintain the balance of nitric oxide, a molecule that relaxes blood vessels, thus contributing to healthy blood pressure levels.

Chronic inflammation is a common underlying factor in the development of cardiovascular diseases. CoQ10 has been found to possess anti-inflammatory properties by inhibiting the production of inflammatory markers such as C-reactive protein (CRP) and interleukin-6 (IL-6). By reducing inflammation, CoQ10 helps reduce the risk of atherosclerosis and other inflammatory heart conditions.

Magnesium

Magnesium is an essential mineral that plays a crucial role in maintaining the health and proper functioning of the human body. One of its notable benefits is its positive impact on heart health. It is involved in maintaining the normal rhythm of the heart, which helps to relax blood vessels and maintain healthy blood pressure levels. This is essential for cardiovascular health.

Magnesium promotes the release of nitric oxide. Studies have shown that individuals with a higher magnesium intake tend to have lower blood pressure levels, which can significantly lower the risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attacks and strokes.

In addition to its direct effects on the heart, magnesium also exhibits anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Chronic inflammation and oxidative stress are major contributors to the development and progression of cardiovascular diseases. Magnesium also plays an important role in the body’s stress response and is helpful in improving symptoms of common mental health conditions like anxiety and depression.

Chromium

Chromium is an essential mineral that plays a crucial role in various physiological processes within the human body. While it is widely known for its involvement in blood sugar regulation, chromium also offers several benefits for heart health.

Studies have shown that chromium supplementation can help increase levels of beneficial HDL cholesterol while reducing levels of harmful LDL cholesterol, thereby lowering the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Chronic inflammation is a contributing factor to the development of atherosclerosis and other cardiovascular conditions. Studies have shown that chromium supplementation can reduce markers of inflammation, such as C-reactive protein (CRP).

In a study published in the Journal of Human Hypertension, participants who received chromium picolinate demonstrated a significant decrease in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure. By maintaining healthy blood pressure, chromium may contribute to the prevention of cardiovascular complications. It also acts as an antioxidant, helping to neutralize harmful free radicals and reduce oxidative damage to the heart and blood vessels.

It is best known for its role in glucose metabolism. By improving insulin sensitivity, chromium helps to maintain stable blood sugar levels. Uncontrolled diabetes is a significant risk factor for heart disease.

Arginine

Arginine, also known as L-arginine, is an amino acid that plays a crucial role in various physiological processes in the human body. It has been recognized for its potential benefits for heart health. It serves as a

precursor for the synthesis of nitric oxide (NO), the miracle molecule that relaxes and dilates blood vessels, thereby improving blood flow. By increasing nitric oxide production, arginine helps in maintaining healthy blood pressure levels and reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases. It promotes the health and elasticity of blood vessels, preventing them from becoming stiff or narrowed. This property is vital for optimal blood circulation.

Arginine inhibits the clumping together of blood platelets. Platelet aggregation is a crucial step in the formation of blood clots, which can lead to heart attacks or strokes. By reducing platelet aggregation, arginine helps maintain healthy blood flow and minimizes the risk of clot-related cardiovascular events. It also has antioxidant properties, helping to neutralize harmful free radicals in the body. By reducing oxidative stress, arginine protects the cardiovascular system from damage and supports its overall health.

16. Are there any natural herbs that can help with heart disease?

There are certainly some very beneficial herbs that are really helpful, not only for heart disease but for many other medical conditions and chronic diseases. I have been using them regularly since my diagnosis of coronary artery disease.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon is a popular spice that has been used for centuries in traditional medicine and is also appreciated for its distinctive aroma and flavor. Certain compounds found in cinnamon, such as cinnamaldehyde, have demonstrated anti-inflammatory properties. Inflammation is linked to various health conditions, including arthritis, cardiovascular disease, and certain cancers. Cinnamon may help reduce inflammation and

contribute to better health outcomes. It also helps improve blood sugar control. It may help lower fasting blood sugar levels, improve insulin sensitivity, and reduce insulin resistance. This makes cinnamon particularly interesting for individuals with type 2 diabetes or those at risk of developing the condition. It helps to lower LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels while maintaining or increasing HDL cholesterol. By doing so, cinnamon may contribute to a lower risk of heart disease.

Cardamom

Cardamom has been associated with several health benefits, including potential benefits for heart health. It contains compounds such as flavonoids, terpenoids, and phenolic acids, which possess antioxidant properties. Antioxidants help neutralize harmful free radicals in the body, reducing oxidative stress and inflammation, which are known risk factors for heart disease. Cardamom helps lower total cholesterol levels and increase levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol. Studies have found that cardamom may help lower blood pressure and also lower the risk of blood clots.

Garlic

Garlic has been found to have a significant effect on reducing blood pressure, which in turn reduces the risk of heart disease. It also helps lower total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol while increasing HDL cholesterol levels. This can contribute to a healthier lipid profile and reduce the risk of atherosclerosis and plaque buildup in the arteries. It can also prevent clot formation and help prevent heart attacks. Garlic contains various compounds, such as allicin, that have antioxidant properties that can also help to maintain a healthier cardiovascular system.

Ginger

Chronic inflammation is believed to contribute to the development of heart disease. Ginger contains several bioactive compounds, such as gingerols and shogaols, which have anti-inflammatory properties. It is rich in antioxidants, which can help protect against oxidative stress. Oxidative stress can lead to hardening and narrowing of the arteries and other cardiovascular conditions. Studies suggest that ginger may help lower levels of total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglycerides. Ginger has also been found to have a positive effect on blood pressure regulation.

Curcumin

Curcumin is a naturally occurring compound found in turmeric, a popular spice used in cooking. Curcumin has strong anti-inflammatory effects in the body. This is helpful in protecting against various diseases, such as heart disease, cancer, and autoimmune disorders. It also acts as a potent antioxidant, thereby slowing down the aging process.

It can help alleviate pain associated with conditions like arthritis, muscle soreness, and joint inflammation. Curcumin has a positive effect on heart health by improving blood circulation, reducing cholesterol levels, and preventing the oxidation of LDL. Curcumin may aid in managing diabetes by regulating blood sugar levels, improving insulin sensitivity, and reducing complications associated with the disease.

Onions

Onions are a versatile vegetable that is commonly used in various cuisines around the world. While they are known for their distinctive flavor and aroma, onions also offer several potential benefits for heart

health. They contain various antioxidants, including flavonoids and organosulfur compounds such as quercetin and sulfur compounds. These antioxidants have been associated with reducing oxidative stress and inflammation, which are risk factors for cardiovascular diseases. Studies suggest that certain compounds, such as quercetin found in onions, have been shown to help lower high blood pressure.

Onions contain a type of soluble fiber called fructans, which can help reduce total cholesterol, and LDL levels. The fiber binds to cholesterol, preventing its absorption in the intestine and promoting its excretion from the body.

Some compounds in onions, such as sulfur compounds, have antiplatelet properties, which means they may help prevent the formation of blood clots. This can reduce the incidence of heart attacks and strokes. They also contain various anti-inflammatory compounds that can help reduce inflammation markers in the body.
